No city council or school board action this past week. On the field, Sachse volleyball split its two matches, losing to Wylie East and beating North Garland, while the undefeated football team had a bye week. See full results below.

City Hall

City Council meets Monday, October 5 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. The full agenda is here. On the consent agenda: approving minutes, accepting the monthly revenue and expenditure report, buying a 2026 John Deere backhoe loader for $127,000, and a seven year, $267,399.50 contract with Motorola Solutions for police camera systems. Under action items, council will consider a $154,701 annual interlocal agreement with the North Texas Tollway Authority for law enforcement services, and renewal of the city's group medical and dental insurance. Council will also discuss potential Bond 2027 projects, and will go into executive session on an economic development matter referred to as "Project Crimson."

The city's new Bond 2027 Committee holds its first meeting Thursday, October 8 at 6 p.m. The agenda shows the committee will swear in its newly appointed members, elect a chairperson and vice chairperson, and get an overview of potential Bond 2027 projects.

The Parks and Recreation Board meeting originally set for Thursday, October 8 has been cancelled.

Schools

Garland ISD's District Affairs Committee, Finance Facilities and Operations Committee, and a Board Bond Special Meeting all meet Tuesday, October 6. None of the posted agendas name Armstrong Elementary, Sewell Elementary, Hudson Middle School, or Sachse High School specifically. District-wide items on those agendas include a Bond 2023 program summary update, consideration of 2026-27 district and campus improvement plans, and consideration of an MOU with the University of North Texas for a master's degree partnership. Mustangs Sports

Football is 5-0 overall and 2-0 in district after beating Rowlett 45-35 on September 25. Before that, the Mustangs beat Wylie 44-42. The team is on the road this Friday, October 9, at South Garland, kicking off at 7 p.m. Full schedule and results: MaxPreps.

Volleyball is sitting third in district as of this week. The Mustangs beat Rowlett 3-0 on September 25, lost to Wylie East 3-1 on September 29, then beat North Garland 3-0 on October 2. They're on the road at Garland on Tuesday, October 6 at 6:30 p.m., then at South Garland on Friday, October 9 at 5:30 p.m. Full schedule and results: MaxPreps.

A couple of regional items worth knowing about: Garland ISD's board approved the 2026-27 property tax rate and added $965,000 for college and career advising services at its September meeting, according to Sachse News. And Collin County Elections says a software update issue is causing delays in processing roughly 40,000 voter registration requests, per Sachse News, worth noting if you've registered or updated your registration recently and live in the Collin County part of town. Over in Wylie, local businesses are hosting Oktoberfest events through early October, per Sachse News, if you're looking for something to do nearby.
